One Man Shows

"Manchild Dilemma"

Written by Indio Melendez
Directed by Dudley Finlay Jr.

Creatively captures how, tired of an overprotective mother's many demands, a young man decides to follow in his brother's footsteps by enlisting in the U.S. Armed Services. Although he was expecting the experience to simply allow him to "travel the world, drink beer, hang out and become a man", he is informed that his unit is being deployed to the Persian Gulf for "Desert Shield". Confronted with the harsh realties of war and responsibility, Ralphy reflects on his childhood, the reasons he joined the Army and whether or not he should face up to his responsibilities or go AWOL. Manchild Dilemma has been performed at various theaters throughout New York City and recently at Mc Callaster College, St.Paul Minneapolis, Spanish Repertory, NYC, Dorothy B. Williams Theater, 3rd Annual Hip Hop Theater Festival @ PS 122, PS-NBC @ H.E.R.E., Sanford Meisner Theater, Intar New Works Lab, 1st Annual Bare Bones Festival, The Julia de Burgos Cultural Center, Thompson Square Library, Studio Museum in Harlem, The New York Comedy Club, Agueybana Bookstore.
